22. Pregnant & due in August. Dad is asking me to be off of his insurance by July.

Hello! I am 22 living in California, recently married in October and pregnant. I also graduated in December with my teaching credential. Due to graduating college and getting married, my dad called me saying I need to figure out my own health insurance. I currently have a traditional HMO plan through Kaiser through my dads insurance. My husband works for a small business and his work does not supply insurance. He is also 24 and his parents have allowed him to stay on their plan to save money. So when he is 26 we will figure out a family plan. (And we will be in a different financial situation by that time as well) I had thought my dad would allow me to stay on his insurance until then, but he asked me to figure something else out. (He said it costs him 600 a month to have me on his insurance, and this is why) I am credentialed but there are absolutely no teaching jobs in my area. Not only that, but I am due the first week of school starting… I just don’t see it even being possible to get a full time job with insurance by July. My husband had a lot of overtime last year, and I don’t qualify for Covered California from what I understand. What he made last year is not what he will be making this year, so it’s a hard situation. Anyways, it is the perfect storm. I have no idea really what to do. I have heard COBRA could continue my insurance for 18 months… but I’ve heard it’s very expensive. I also don’t know if I would have a lapse in coverage. Considering I am due in August I don’t want to be without insurance in July in case I go into labor. Does anyone have a Kaiser plan through themselves and not their work? How much does that cost? I don’t know, it’s a very hard situation. Any help is appreciated, or advice.
