Best Blue Shield of California PPO plan if I plan to reach my OOP max for residential mental health treatment?

So I’m enrolling in health insurance through Covered California and definitely need out of network coverage for mental health treatment. It looks like only Blue Shield of California offers PPO plans. The options I’m trying to decide between are:

Blue Shield of California Silver 2600 HSA HDHP PPO – $300 per month: Summary of Benefits

Blue Shield of California Gold 80 PPO – $400 per month: Summary of Benefits

Most of my costs are largely mental health related:

  • An OON therapist: $100 per week out of pocket. I’m assuming I can submit a superbill to be reimbursed for 50% of this?
  • An in-network dietician who I plan to start seeing weekly soon.
  • My therapist and I have discussed pursuing residential treatment later this year once the pandemic is over. All of the facilities I am looking into are OON, so this assumes I will easily hit the $20k OON out of pocket max.
