Coding technicality- do I have any chance of getting this changed?

Hi, I’m in KY and have UHC POS, if that matters.

A couple months ago I had a surgery (salpingectomy). On the day of surgery my doctor told me she could go ahead and take out my Nexplanon while I was under anesthesia so I wouldn’t have to come into the office for the removal.

I got a bill this week for $283.00 for the removal of the Nexplanon under anesthesia.

I’ve had Nexplanon removed in the past under the same insurance and it was at no cost to me- but it was in the office.

I talked to UHC and they said that they don’t cover the removal under anesthesia. I talked to someone in billing at my doctor’s office and they said they didn’t think they could change it (but I kind of feel like I got a Christmas brush off).

It’s such an annoying (and expensive!) technicality. I would have gladly gone into the office if it meant saving almost $300!

Do you guys think it’s worth it to ask again? Is there anything I could say that might make them change the way it was coded? Or am I just out of luck? Thanks!
