Covered California asking for before tax income and household members info…help please!

Hello,

I need to sign up for Covered California and I am lost on two things that it asks me in the application.

The first thing that I am lost on is the question about how much before tax income I make. I just started a new job and got my second paycheck just last week for $1,016 after the FICA, Social Security and Medicare etc deductions and I’m paid bi-weekly. Before those taxes the check is $1,232 and this is for 80 hours total (40hrs/week) of regular pay and just over an hour of overtime, so just over 81 hours total on the check. My question for this one is, on the Covered California site when it asks me for my before tax income, and I choose bi-weekly pay, etc., do I give them the $1,232 before tax paycheck amount, or the after tax $1,016 amount? I know that this may seem like a dumb question with an obvious answer, but the last time I enrolled in Covered California in my early twenties my Dad did it for me, but now that I’m 28 and lost my former employer’s health insurance and started a new job, I need to go back to Covered California to ensure that I have coverage at least until I’m eligible for my new employer’s coverage and I just want to make sure that I don’t get screwed on my monthly premium bill amounts since I don’t make that much money. Also, this would just of course be the income that I expect to make in the year, not what I actually know I will make since I’ve only been with this employer for just under a month now. Although, for now at least, I do have a fixed schedule and guaranteed hours, so my total year income estimate should be accurate, but since it is retail, that can change at any time. Although I know that your income can be changed/updated later on the Covered California site.

My second question is, I live with my parents and two adult siblings but I am obviously no longer claimed as a dependent, so do I just put 1 household member, or all of them?

Any help is appreciated, thank you.
