Deductible plan vs plan with no deductible

I’ve been torn between two plans. Both BCBS just one is through my State government job, and the other is through my husband’s Federal job.

I’ve entered the information for our plans into comparison tools and mine always comes out cheaper.

The State plan has an individual deductible of $400 plus a family deductible of $800. Out of pocket maximum is $2,000 for individual and $4,000 for family (in network). 10% coinsurance for a good amount of services.

The Federal plan has NO deductible. With an $11,000 out of pocket maximum. We originally switched to this plan because we had a baby and it somehow ended up being more cost effective. I think they are more generous with labor and delivery coverage. One thing with the Federal plan is you can NOT get anything covered out of network.

Currently with the Federal plan we are still paying a $30 copay for chiropractic care. The State plan appears to be a $20 copay.

Additionally, I get a $50 incentive to waive my health insurance through the State but my husband wouldn’t get that through his work.

Let me know if additional information is needed to help me with this!
