Eye Dr messed up glasses twice, ate up my yearly eye exam, and insurance says I have to pay out of pocket for a new exam somewhere else and hope to get reimbursed later?

I am so confused. I asked the insurance rep why the Dr’s office, who can’t do an eye exam right or make a pair of glasses (one or the other), isn’t responsible for “refunding” my appointment so that I can go somewhere else.

She just said “They(the dr) can’t do that”. She kept putting me on hold and going back to speak with someone from vision within the insurance company. I wasn’t allowed to speak to them directly.

So I got an eye exam back in Dec. They messed up the glasses big time. They had me come back for another exam, that took even longer and used another machine they never used the first time. I waited another three weeks for them to make the glasses, went to pick them up and they’re messed up again. This time in a totally different way. Its not even close.

I’ve been wearing glasses/contacts over twenty years. I haven’t had this issue before.

So the insurance rep basically said to get my prescription from the Dr, and take it somewhere else to get glasses… but the prescription must be wrong!? So she said my only answer is to take the wrong prescription to another doctor, pay them for an exam, get them to prove that the other prescription is wrong.. then contact insurance and hope to get reimbursed for the new appointment!?

Otherwise, Ive been told I cant have another eye exam until Dec 2021..

Anyone know what to do here?
