Furloughed 1+ year with company, just got a text from management they’re talking about canceling all insurance for furloughed workers.

I totally get that they can’t pay it forever. I’m lucky they even paid it for this long. Moving forward my company doesn’t know what it’s going to do or how many accounts they’ll be keeping open. Today they reached out to ask if I would be willing to travel to other states to help with accounts and if so that would keep me off the cancel list for insurance. However, that’s not a steady gig and my wife isn’t going to be happy if I do it.

My question is this. If they kick us off of our medical Insurance, will I be getting a bill in the mail for what was in arrears? I know if I return to work they’ll be taking 80 percent of my pay checks to pay it back. YES, that’s the real number. Which leaves me with essentially nothing for working and away from home at that.

What do you all think? Thanks for reading.
