Health Insurance for college student – need help!!!

Hi, I’m a college student and I so far had no insurance. Since it’s open enrollment, I was looking into some health insurance but I wasnt sure if I’m doing the right thing. My parents are currently living abroad and their citizenship is not America. So I’m looking for a individual health plan thats relatively cheap but has good coverage. I found that united Health Care’s short term plan (triterm) was so much cheaper than the other ones. Is there any downside of it? I am healthy, no smoker, no pre existing condition, and honestly I think all I need is coverage when I unexpectedly get in a accident or get super sick and have to go go the Emergency Room or get hospitalized. I feel so lost and I dont know where to start.. Can someone help me out? I live in Tennessee by the way!

Also, I don’t know if this makes any difference but I make like $5000 a year. Why are they asking for my annual income??
