Health Plan deductible vs Prescription Deductible? Is there a difference?

Hi! I’m a bit confused, and calling the company that oversees my prescription coverage ended with them telling me to call my health plan, and my health plan telling me to call the prescription people. So I’m confused.

Here’s what I’ve got: I have a health care plan managed by Priority Health with a deductible of $4000. Since I had surgery in January, I have met this deductible.

My prescriptions are managed by CVS Caremark. They also say that I have a deductible of $4000, but that I’ve only paid $2800 of it. There is no where on the CVS website where I can find what has contributed to this amount (the prescriptions I’ve filled so far this year do not come anywhere near that amount). The cost of prescriptions after meeting the deductible is (I think) $40.

My problem is that I’ve just been prescribed a medication that is showing a cost of $300. If I’ve met my deductible, it seems to me that I should only be paying the $40 (the medication is, as far as I can tell, on the formulary).

Are there separate medical and prescription deductibles? Or has CVS messed up in some way?

Thank you!!
