I currently make barely too much for Medicaid, so I’m getting a marketplace plan for 2021. Because my current job’s insurance plan is considered to be unaffordable (per their documents; I don’t actually know what the rates are), I’m eligible for a subsidy on my premium. That makes it just barely affordable.
If I get a new job after I get marketplace insurance and that job offers health insurance, my understanding is that I’m still locked into my marketplace plan. If that’s true, do I lose the subsidy despite being unable to take my job’s insurance?
If it helps, whatever new job I get will not bring in much more income than my current job. I wouldn’t be able to afford the $300/month insurance would cost without a subsidy.
