If I didn’t use the insurance and canceled, do I still owe the monthly premium?

To make a long story short, after I turned 26 my mother accidentally signed me up for a separate insurance plan and her plan got canceled. Blue Cross Blue Shield somehow messed everything up on their end. So, she had to go two months without her diabetes medication and they wouldn’t let her cancel the policy under my name.

I now have at least four past due payments of around $300-$400. I discovered this when I tried to enroll in dental on my own. I never used the health insurance and I was finally able to call and get the health policy canceled. My question is if I actually owe the past due payments. I couldn’t find much information online. Thank you.

Edit: It’s BCBS of Alabama by the way.
