If my Doctors tell me they “take my insurance” but my insurance company says the doctors “don’t take my plan” and I’m billed for thousands, what do I do?

According to our insurance company, two doctors I’ve been seeing for years stopped taking my plan last year and didn’t tell me. Same thing with my wife’s gyno. Their respective offices continues to tell us they take our insurance, but our insurance company is telling me that they no longer take our specific plan — a Cadillac plan my wife pays half her salary to have. No one told us and we had no idea until the bills started coming in.

This has ended up in almost $10,000 in unexpected bills over the last few months (we had a child in February) – we’re going to appeal to the insurance company, but is there anything else we can do?

Thanks for the help.
