In network Dentist denied my coverage

Must Read

I had dental work done. Before I went I checked that the dentist was still in my network because I hadn’t been there in awhile. They were. After the work was done I went to the front desk and they told me they no longer accept my insurance. I had to pay $700 out of pocket. I told them your still on the network list and they say it’s a mistake by the insurance company. I contacted the insurance company and they said they are still a provider in network. They contacted the dentist who then called my with a very unhappy attitude and said they will put the claim through and reimburse me whatever insurance covers. They also said they were still on the network list because they are finishing work with other patients under that insurance. My question, can they legally only reimburse me what insurance covers when they have an agreement to pay the rate the insurance company offers? I have a $100 annual deductible which I owe them. I paid $700. Insurance paid them $400. Can they only refund me $300 instead of $600? They’ve since been taken off the network list but at the time were they not in contract with the insurance company? They have multiple reviews from people claiming this dentist office waited until after the work was already done before they denied their insurance. Seems very scammy.
