My insurance company won’t refill my prescription for another 2 weeks because they say I should have enough.

I got new insurance, Express-Scripts, and my old insurance would let me fill my medication 3 days early, so I’d end up with a few bottles with just a few pills left in them. Well in cleaning my room recently I got rid of a lot of these bottles because I didn’t think I’d need all this extra medication lying around.

This new insurance keeps track of how many pills I should have and they’re counting all those pills I threw out, and are now saying it’s to early to fill because I have plenty of medication. I’m about to run out and the pharmacy was able to override the insurance and get me my medication, but they said I’ll probably have trouble next time I need to fill it.

It’s Lamictal and Latuda which you can’t use recreationally so it’s not like I’m getting high on all these extra pills. I just threw them out because I thought I wouldn’t need them. Is there anything I can do to get the insurance company to pay next time or am I going to have to pay out of pocket?
