[NYC] – Need help deciding between two health insurance policies || BCBS vs Cigna

Hello all,

I hope this is ok to ask here, I apologize in advance if its not ok to ask here. If anyone can recommend me the proper subreddit that would be excellent.

Family

This is for myself and my Fiancé’.

Budget and wants / needs

  • $1000 – $1500 (The company I work for pays for all of this) I can increase budget if needed
  • ‘The Best’I don’t want to worry about seeing a doctor, getting my heart checked out. My Fiancé’ getting her hormones or blood work checked out or done, etc.
  • PPO (I want to be able to go anywhere I want to)

Optional but really want

  • Cover’s Pregnancyincase my Fiancé’ gets pregnant

Optional

  • Mental health serviceswould be nice too (Seeing a therapist instead of talkspace or betterhelp would be nice)

Insurance History (skip this if you want)

Last year I got ‘tricked’ into paying for a Health Sharing Plan. It was a miserable experience. I say ‘tricked’ because I called many many agents, and told them basically I have no budget, and I need the best plan I can get. They talked me into this Health Sharing Plan which is utterly horrible. Its not even real insurance. It was so difficult, so sketchy, and only had .5 – 1 star review.

Really traumatic experience to be honest. They would not cover anything, they would only ‘share the cost’. I can’t remember the name of the company, otherwise I would share the link here. Once I remember I’ll share it. But it was the worst…

My Fiancé and I have been afraid to go to the doctors for the past year, because we have no idea when we walk in the front door to get our heart looked at, or something like that if it will be $100 or $5,000+. There was no real way to find out the price, I would call the ‘Insurance’ company and they would say “well another department handles that and they can’t help you until the bill arrives. It was so bad.

Question:

I need help deciding on a health insurance plan. I have contacted a ‘high rated (4 – 5 star) Insurance Agency their website is here. Because of my past experience I do not trust Insurance Agents or companies at all.

So I would love your guys help selecting a good plan from the plans that they suggested to me.

They suggested I decide between:

  • BCBS
  • Cigna

Here are the plan breakdowns that they sent me. There are (3) seperate packages for each Insurance company.

Documents Here

——–

If you guys can pick apart and help suggest a good plan that would be super helpful! I am just afraid of making a bad decision and being stuck with a sub-par plan for the next year until Open Enrollment is open again.

Thanks all!!
