Pay your bills with providers instead of private insurance?

One of the biggest risks for early retirees is health insurance. Assuming you don’t quality for ADA and have to buy private health insurance for 25k or more/year with high deductible + copay , wouldn’t it be affordable to directly pay the bills with providers without any insurance plans for healthy individuals? Even if you have to visit doctor 2-3 times a year and have to pay for lab services, it may not come to the premium + copay + detectable etc.

The doctor visits would cost $200-500

Common Prescription drugs ~$100-1000

Lab work, Xray, Scan etc – $ 1000-3000

Assuming one can fly out of country for treatment for any serious health conditions, am I missing anything obvious here?
