Plan stopped covering remote services as pandemic started

Please forgive my naivety, I am unfamiliar with how insurance really works as a whole and where I should be going with this issue. I have anthem blue cross blue shield. I see a psychiatrist regularly. Before Covid, these services were covered in full. As the pandemic progressed, these visits were mandatorily moved to telehealth over the phone meetings. After a few visits I noticed I was being charged a hefty amount by my insurance. Today I called up anthem to see what was going on. The representative told me the claims were being processed correctly and that my plan had stopped covering telehealth appointments mid June? I said well why, seeing as how things were mandatorily being moved to telehealth because of the pandemic and he told me my plan was designed that way? I never got any notice that telehealth services were being removed from coverage. I think it’s ridiculous that something I used to get for free I am now being charged $120/session for especially when there was no choice how to conduct my appointments. I do not want/ cannot pay the $700+ I have racked up due to this. What are my options to fixing this mess??
