Policy cancelled due to non-payment 13 days late

We have a NC health insurance policy we purchased through the marketplace.

I accidentally missed our October payment, so we would’ve been past due as of yesterday (or worst case, end of Oct), when I received my Nov billing email. I logged in today to a $0 balance and the policy has been cancelled retroactively back to 9/30, the date of the last payment. They claim the policy was cancelled due to non-payment.

The provider told me they couldn’t reinstate me because the marketplace can only do that, but the marketplace folks told me that they couldn’t do anything about billing issues and I’m SOL on reinstatement until January.

I received no notification (email, message, text message, mail) about the cancellation. My last communication with them was a billing notice yesterday.

Do I have any recourse? I’d rather not go now to Jan 1 without insurance, but so far no one will reinstate me.
