Proving to insurance that I need mobility aids

I have a tendon injury and can’t walk. I’ve been hopping around on one leg for a few weeks now and naturally my uninjured leg is starting to fail from the stress. I had gone to urgent care to recieve a diagnosis but they said I just had to stay off it for 6-8 weeks. I cant do that. I’m unemployed right now because of COVID but I still need to cook, clean and care for my family and other household and life things. I asked about a walking boot or even crutches and I was told I had to argue it out with my insurance (state insurance for those in poverty Medicaid). Apparently, in the past urgent care has given these items out but some insurances wont pay for them without a fight. What can I do to prove to the insurance that I will not heal and probably make myself worse and need surgery if I dont get the right mobility aids? Or am I out of luck? My parents have medicare for the elderly and its been a 6+ year battle to get my dad a wheelchair. he physically cant walk. His legs do not work. he’s been housebound for 6 years with the insurance claiming its not medically necessary despite paperwork from doctors and such.
