Quitting job after delivery; CHIP questions

I’m just trying to see if someone could help me understand how to go about this because I’ve been in hold for over an hour now.

Basic info: I (20) am covered through my parents insurance till I’m 26.
My husband is covered through Veterans affairs; but cannot add family as he is not 100% disabled. I am currently pregnant with our first baby.

So long story short, to get my husband and our baby (due in July) on his employers health insurance it would cost us $715 a month, with a $8,000 deductible. That, on top of what daycare would cost, would have us be losing money if I continue to work. Our plan is for me to quit my job about a month before my due date.

Now here’s where I’m slightly confused. Currently we do not qualify for any state assistants. However, once I quit my job, we will be under our state’s maximum income for CHIP. I tried doing a marketplace application but with my current income it isn’t very helpful in figuring out what to do. Obviously we can’t add the baby to the application right now because their not born yet.

I guess my questions are

  1. Will we for sure be approved for CHIP since we’ll be under the income maximum?

  2. Do we have to include my husbands VA disability into our income? (He probably knows the answer to that but I haven’t asked him)

  3. Do I have to wait till after delivery to even start the CHIP application?

  4. Will CHIP cover babies hospital stay?
