Resigning and Melanoma – what are my options?

Hello! I am based in OH.

I am currently on health insurance through my employer. I have put in my two weeks as of last week, but noticed a mole last night that does not look good. Cancer of all kinds runs in my family, so based on the look of it I believe this is likely cancerous. I made an appointment, and will likely have a biopsy that same day (Dec 21st). My last day of employment is the 25th. I start new employment on the 4th of January, with benefits starting that same day or as soon as I enroll. My question is, if this does come back cancerous, what are my options? My hope is that the benefits won’t run out before months end incase I can get some sort of treatment before year end based on results. Should I just cancel my appointment and wait for my new insurance to kick in? Is there some grace period for Premara Blue Cross (Amazon)? I am freaking out!!!

Thank you!!!

Edit: I know I do not know for sure what the results will be until I get them. I just want to be prepared for my next move if it comes back unfavorably!
