With/Without Financial Assistance???

Hi. I’m (25F) getting health insurance for the first time since I was 17, so I really don’t know what I’m doing. Help!

I’m in Maryland (21060) and make $43K a year before taxes. I just finished my application online. Now, it’s time to enroll, but I’m confused and don’t know what to pick. Plus, the help line didn’t really explain anything.

So, I don’t qualify for Medicaid, but I do qualify for a Qualified Health Plan with Financial Assistance, but it says I am eligible to receive $0 in premium tax credits per month. What does this mean? Why even say I’m eligible if it’s $0?

Obviously, I also qualify to just buy a Qualified Health Plan, sans financial assistance.

What box do I check? With/without financial assistance? Does the $0 thing make it not even worth it? Would choosing financial assistance limit my choice in plans? Moreover, will all the same plans be available regardless of which option I choose?

Ugh. They really should’ve taught us all this stuff in high school.
