Worried about how a job change will affect my family’s insurance coverage. I don’t know what my options are (NY). Help!?

I live in New York. I currently cover myself, my child, and my domestic partner (who is self-employed) through the health insurance offered by my employer. We have been talking about me quitting my job to work for my partner, who runs a very small business and does not offer benefits to employees.

Because his business is fairly successful, I’m worried he makes too much money for us to qualify for anything we can afford… But I honestly don’t know the first thing about how any of this works.

Since we’re not married, would the 3 of be on one plan? Could my son and I be one one plan, and my partner on another? I just need some basic information to know if it’s even worth considering leaving my job.

His adjusted gross income in 2019 was $43,000. I know it will likely be more this year. I would be working for him part time, not making much.

Any information at all would be GREATLY appreciated, even if you just point me in the right direction for some good resources. TIA!
