Hi all. I was laid off back in July. As part of my employer’s severance package, they offered 6 months of subsidized health insurance. After that, I would have to use COBRA if I want to use my current insurance. I had planned to go with ACA after the 6 month period to reduce my monthly payment. I consider myself pretty healthy and only utilize health insurance for the usual yearly checkup and dental. No prescriptions.
If I want to go with an ACA plan beginning in Feb (NJ enrolling period ends in Jan), do I need to notify my current health insurance to cancel?
If I get a new job within the next few months, would I have to notify my new health insurance that I now have employer provided health insurance?
Thanks!
