Hello r/healthinsurance friends! So, I’ve been offered an opportunity to volunteer in-person at a non-profit organization, where I would help people sign up for insurance through the Marketplace, Medicaid, etc., and just generally help them access healthcare resources (essentially the same thing I do here, but in-person). Healthcare issues are not their main focus, but they deal with many people in need of healthcare/insurance.
To your knowledge, do I need any kind of certification or licensure (ACA navigator, certified application counselor, broker, etc.) on either the federal or Tennessee state level to perform this type of unpaid work? If so, do you know how one would go about obtaining said licensure/certification? Would I be opening myself up to any kind of legal liability if I performed such work without said licensure/certification?
