I currently earn approximately 55,000 dollars a year and I have BCBS insurance provided by my employer. My current deductible is 3500 on this plan. I am ready for a career change and interested in a new position. I am considering accepting a contracting job that would pay 100.00 dollars an hour (I would be able to bill about 25 hours a week). The job looks awesome and interests me greatly.
However, the contract job does not provide health insurance. I am a young adult, generally healthy, and go to the doctors a couple times a year usually only for preventative measures or if I fall ill. I grew up without health insurance though and feel nervous to leave the stability and benefits offered by a salaried job. I would really appreciate any feedback about factors I should be considering as I decide whether or not to accept this position. Additionally, what is the most affordable insurance for individuals through the marketplace?
