Hi there,
I recently did non-invasive prenatal testing, which my insurance is denying. My obstetrician told me that it would be covered because I was deemed high risk due to age, and I did not know I needed to or should check with insurance before getting it done. Just received an explanation of benefits showing that they are not covering anything, so they are showing $12k as patient responsibility. Obviously, I plan to appeal. Can anyone provide some recommendations on going through the appeal process? Obviously, I have to start with insurance to understand why the claim was denied. What do I do after that? Do I need to reach out to my doctor for assistance with this? I’m sure I bear some responsibility, just not $12k. Please help!
