I hope this would be considered the correct subreddit for something like this!
Currently, my mother lives in Texas, and is unable to afford their healthcare (I have no idea how the Texas healthcare system works, which is partly why I am making this post). Her job does not provide her any kind of coverage, and she is six years too young for medicare. She is completely out of money – and certainly doesn’t have enough to afford what I saw was the average premium.
Currently, she is developing cataracts, and the surgery costs are very high. Because she takes care of my grandmother, she can’t really go anywhere.
She also doesn’t want to create a Gofundme for herself, which I don’t quite understand. I’m not in a position to handle the extra stress.
My question is, in the state of Texas, are there any other options my mother can pursue if she needs $15,000 dollars for surgery? Or does she have to try and hold out until she’s old enough for Medicare? I live in New York, so I have no way of assisting her with insurance.
Are there any other subreddits I could post this on (I had a hard time categorizing this, to be honest) that may have better reach?
I will do my best to answer any further questions if necessary.
