Ok so I am 24 which means I still am on my moms insurance, but I’m not a dependent. I moved out of state last year and stayed on her insurance, not thinking anything of it. My mom has just gotten a new job and they’re working out health insurance stuff. We’re very confused about what sort of plan we need. I live in IL and she’s in NC so is there a plan where we’ll both be able to find in network providers? Does it even make sense for me to stay on her insurance? Is there ever a reason for someone under 26 to get their own insurance? I wouldn’t be able to get it thru work because I’m a server and I can’t afford more than ~$50 a month and even that is pushing it. Can I even find insurance for that little?
I just feel very confused and overwhelmed and the HR people and this very tiny company don’t seem to know how to handle this situation
