I had a test done recently and to my understanding, they looked up my insurance and figured out that since I haven’t met my (high) deductible, I was going to end up paying out of pocket for the whole thing either way. I don’t think the hospital ever submitted a claim and I just paid for it myself when I made the appointment. What I’m wondering is if there’s any way to retroactively submit a claim, just so the money I paid will count towards my deductible? If so, would I contact the insurance company first, or the hospital?
