Hi all,
I wanted to ask if anyone has knowledge/experience re: out of state insurance. Specifically, I live in one state, but will be spending much of the summer with my family in another state. There’s a surgery that I need to have, and I have two options. Have it under my current insurance plan, with the disadvantage that I would need a friend to drive me to and from and that I would be convalescing alone, as I live alone (it’s not a hugely invasive surgery, but I still don’t prefer this option), or try to find a secondary plan to cover me for a couple of months during the summer. I am recently 26, so I must admit I’m somewhat out of my element, but I found a plan through GeoBlue that said it would be $102.06 for my trip, and that it would cover up to $1,000,000, with 0 deductible. It further states that surgeries are 100% covered, but unfortunately there’s a pre-existing condition clause, so I can’t do it. It definitely seemed too good to be true. Does anyone know of any other options for something like this that wouldn’t break the bank, or am I really best off doing it where I am now?
ETA: Current location south Florida, later location southwest Ohio. My taxable income is not particularly high.
