Sorry, I’m not sure how to phrase this properly. I have a friend who was recently diagnosed with cancer. She claims her health insurance is crappy. Her insurance is through a local government job fwiw. She initially went to the ER due to some extreme swelling. This led to a battery of tests which eventually revealed a large internal mass. A biopsy has since shown she has lymphoma.
Her insurance has already denied her ER visit claim saying it wasn’t an emergency.
I’m looking for any advice on a general strategy for dealing with insurance. There’s a lot to deal with without having to worry about money. So can we wait 6-12 months until everything is better before fighting things like this ER visit claim? Or do we risk missing some appeal timeline? Are there any services that can help? I’d be happy to pay someone who is an expert on this stuff to manage the financial side of having cancer.
