I’m trying to choose between a few insurance plans and am confused about two things. One, when do you actually start paying a plan’s deductible? If a plan has a $500 deductible, does that mean that I owe $500 as soon as I make a visit to a doctor?
Two, take a look at the image below. I don’t understand why the more expensive Oscar plan has a 40 percent coinsurance fee for special tests when the cheaper plan only involves a $25 copay. Couldn’t you end up paying ridiculously more with the coinsurance?
