Cobra bridge question

I will have about two weeks between the time I have to elect Cobra and when my insurance starts up at my new job. I also know that you have 45 days to make a payment. My question is can you elect both dental and medical, then only pay the dental part and let the medical expire? I’ve spent enough on dental to make it worth enrolling but not a huge amount. One option is to just do dental and risk the two weeks of medical. The other option is to write off the couple hundred I would get back on dental to have the medical coverage if we need it. The ideal would be to elect both, but then only pay for dental and let the medical get cancelled for non-payment. I can’t seem to find any info on how the payments for two policies work. Thanks for any insight.
