Confused about steps to get covered during a change of job regarding arketplace/CHIP (Indiana)

I’m currently employed, my wife is not and we have a newborn. We’re currently covered through my employer, however, I’m looking at changing my career. This change would be a pay cut (about 30% for a little while and leave us with a 90 day gap between insurance. Personally I just care that my wife and newborn are covered. I filled out an application using my current income and information as I have not left my current job. It said my wife and I were eligible, but when I went to the CHIP site to apply for the newborn I noticed an income table and on the application I had given a given estimate on what my end of year pay would be ($55k). The table said 54,900 was the cut off… does this mean I screwed myself as it’s potentially going to be less this year as I’m going into a commission based job. Also when does this coverage actually begin? For example if I leave my job May 3, 2021 I would lose my benefits on the same day. Would CHIP kick in retroactively for May 4, 2021 even if approval is given a week later or anytime after my last day? Sorry for rambling, I’m just thoroughly confused reading through different sites and articles.
