I’ve been going back and forth with my insurance and my provider and I’m tired. This is my situation:
Visit #1: office visit + refill of anti-depressants Visit #2: checkup + refill of anti-depressants
The first visit was covered after paying a co-pay. The second visit, United is refusing to pay for it because the primary code is “behavioral health.” They want me to pay for the entire visit out of pocket. I spoke with the practice manager and she told me that both visits were coded under mental health (refill of anti-depressants) and she wasn’t sure why the second visit changed. She thought maybe my policy changed and it was no longer covered??
I confirmed with my insurance that my plan did not change for these two visits.
The CSR from United said that visit #2 wasn’t covered because the primary code is “behavioral health” In order for the visit to be covered the primary code needs to be under “medical health”
Help! I need to get this solved. The office manager told me to reach out to my insurance and I can never understand the people at my insurance because they speak broken English… like every person I get and they always transfer me to the wrong person. I work two jobs, 80 hours a week. I don’t have time for this.
I’m tired. It makes me want to cancel my insurance and just be sick.
