Hi – in the USA (PA) and trying to understand what my health benefits cost will be if I decide to leave my employer (currently have health benefits through them) for a 1099 contractor job with no benefits( salary in theory would make up for that).
My husband has a decent insurance plan but to add me on there is literally thousands of dollars more annually as his employer does not pay for spouse premiums. My question is – would it be better to just go out to the market place and try to find a plan that costs less? I also am pregnant right now so would be a high utilizer of medical services this year. I think that this technically would be a pre existing condition that might drive higher premiums…
If I wanted to check out marketplace plans, what’s the best way to compare and contrast? I went onto some website and was spammed by calls and texts. Not ideal.
Thoughts? Thank you!
