Currently live in New Hampshire and husband, my 3 y/o son and myself are covered by my husband’s employer health insurance. I qualify for insurance thru my job as well but don’t use it. We are closing on a new house in North Carolina (zip 27526) in August 2021 and then physically moving in Sept 2021.
We plan to quit our jobs in August (current combined income $210k) and then job search once we are in NC. We both will not be working for approx 3 months (obviously this is an estimate). We both have in demand jobs and are not worried with getting new ones.
We’ll be eligible for COBRA but would rather just get an ACA plan since we’re all healthy without need for meds. When should I be enrolling in a new plan?
Should I wait 60 days past COBRA eligibility or just buy an ACA plan up front?
Our only proof of NC residency will be our home contract; we won’t have driver’s license or utility bills until we get there, not sure if this complicates things.
