Let me start off by saying that being from Canada, the US healthcare system sucks.
Just found out yesterday that wife is pregnant and I can’t enroll in insurance from my workplace until enrollment period. I shopped around for private insurance but deductibles are so high it makes no sense.
I’ll be paying out of pocket until insurance is setup. Any alternatives?
Also, how does insurance work if I only have a plan covering me and my spouse (since child isn’t born yet) … does my spouse insurance cover the child when they’re born or do I need to have the family plan even prior to the child being born?
Any insight is appreciated. I’m out in CO by the way.
