Am putting this out there for any and all help (no sarcasm or jokes please, I am in real trouble). I can only stand 30 minutes at a time before my hips hurt so bad I have to sit down. I have been hiding this at work for fear they may try to get rid of me.
I am deeply in revolving credit card debt and did not want to see a doctor about my hips, but finally I had to go. I’ve been diagnosed with arthritis, and somehow my vertebrae have been fused together (I have never even heard of this before). I’m 59 and too old to take a break and start over somewhere else. I am terrified of taking disability because it is only 50% of my wages and I can’t live on 100% of my wages. Apart from that, I heard you lose your insurance on disability, and must pay for expensive COBRA. I also heard once you turn 63 that force you off disability and make you take social security.
Has anyone been in this same situation? Is it true they make you take COBRA and you lose your work health coverage. Has anyone dealt with a fused spine. I wish I could quit and heal my back, but I’m drowning in debt and don’t know who to ask for help.
