I recently had a telehealth doctor visit to discuss my continuation of PrEP, and he also asked a couple follow-up questions from an issue discussed at a previous visit (and submitted a referral for this). The code used was 99214 for an office visit.
With my last PrEP care setup, I was seeing a PA who coded using the preventative counseling codes (99402, for example). These were always covered at 100% as preventive.
I’m now under a high deductible plan, and I’m confused because Aetna covered the 99214 visit at 100%. Typically my deductible would have applied with that coding. Is it possible this was a mistake? Or is it possible that Aetna is covering telehealth at 100%?
