My partner is moving with me to Texas for my job and has predisposition to skin cancer such that my partner visits the dermatologist 4 times a year. My partner will have to quit current job and will thus lose insurance. My partner will have no income until finding another job. We are not married so my new employer’s health insurance won’t be an option for my partner I believe. All the advice on short term insurance I see is for catastrophic – not people between jobs with pre-existing conditions. Should we go through the marketplace? Are there any good private short term options without ridiculous deductibles that would allow for reasonable coverage of doctor visits? Partner is late twenties, otherwise healthy in all regards. Thanks!
