Medically Underwritten Plan / Question

I am self-employed, 31/m, and was advised by a professional that this would probably be my best option (because I’m young/healthy/would probably get approved). In my area I was told that United HealthCare Choice Plus PPO would be the only medically underwritten plan.

Does anyone have any experience with ”medically underwritten plans” or this one in particular? It’s a little less than $300/month which seems pretty reasonable for PPO in my experience. I’m also told that the rate will be locked in until I’m 65 regardless of future claims (except for market rate escalations every year (typically 2-3%)). Some of the details below, thanks in advance.

· Monthly premium approximately $300-375/month

· 5kcalendar year deductible depending on how we build the plan

· United HealthCare Choice Plus PPO network

· Vision and Dental coverage included in the higher end of the range

· Includes preventive care and wellness, doctor visits, prescription coverage, labs, chiropractor benefits, accident coverage, critical illness

· Free and unlimited tele-doc visits ($0 copays)

· Hospital indemnity benefits
