Question about pre existing conditions

My family and I are moving to the US from another country this summer. Is it true that since the affordable care act passed, insurance companies can no longer deny claims due to pre existing conditions? For example, I passed a kidney stone recently and need to follow up with a urologist. Would I be able to see a urologist after we move for the follow up and my insurance would have to cover it?
