Hi all, hoping you can help! Some of these might be easy if I had hours to research, but honestly, I have a dying mother from ALS, a codependent psycho boyfriend, and an insane new hostile landlord takeover to deal with simultaneously, to put it lightly – I am hoping someone might take pity.
I have a few questions for working remotely permanently or becoming a digital Nomad or even a yearly Nomad??? I am debating moving to SC to be with my mom, but she will pass away soon, and it’ll also save me from the other 2 problems mentioned above. I am typically very strong and independent. Below is my list, let me know if there’s anything I didn’t think of?? I have been living in Los Angeles for the past ten years, and working for the same LA based interior designer for five (though we have clients in many states).
· Does my office have to start charging clients in the state I move to or currently live in?
· I have full health insurance in California through my employer, do I lose that if I leave? It’s Blue Shield CA PPO. (I think slightly separate from the national Blue Cross Blue Shield)
· How would my own taxes be affected?
· Is it better to move around monthly (and can I go overseas in a non-COVID year) or stick to one place for a few months or a year?
· Can I use a friends’ CA address or my mother and father’s in SC if I am truly going to be all over the place? Are there pros and cons or legal issues with any of those options? I’d rather use SC… California taxes are insane but using a friends’ may be easier for my workplace to handle…
Thank you truly!
