I had an emergency procedure done last year when I had an accident. The doctor, which is out of network for me, billed insurance 40k. I got a letter in the mail last week from the doctor asking me to sign a paper so they can appeal, as they feel they were grossly underpaid. There was a sentence there about how this will reduce out of pocket expenses for me, but my insurance website says I don’t have to pay the charges they denied. What could the repercussions for signing and allowing the doctor to appeal?
