I am on a HDHP plan, and have a prescription that was previously filled via a specialty pharmacy and paid via my Express Scripts insurance . When trying to get a refill, the specialty pharmacy told me that my insurance price ($200 per shot) was higher than their retail price ($95 per shot).
Separately, I am close to my annual deductible this year. If I pay $95 w/o using insurance, can I file a claim w/ Aetna (my insurance company) to have that counted towards my annual deductible?
I did check my Aetna HDHP plan, and it does count prescriptions towards my annual deductible. What’s not clear is what happens if I purchase the prescription/drug w/o using insurance.
