Hi all, I am going crazy here. I just got a bill from a collections agency for around 2.1k for an echocardiogram that happened 2.5 years ago.
Here’s the back story. I received the bill for the 1st time last year, about 1.5 years after the actual echocardiogram took place. I called the insurance and asked what’s up. They said the coding was wrong and that they wouldn’t cover it because it didn’t link my cancer treatment as the need for it. I call the doctor about it and ask them to change the coding and they say it’s been too long. So then I contact the health network’s/hospital’s billing department and ask them to change the code. Nope… it’s been too long. They told me that they would talk to their manager to get it resolved. The last I spoke with them was probably August last summer (2020). Today, I get a bill from a collections agency. Silly me, thought someone helped resolve it last year and that’s why I never heard from the collections agency last year. I SHOULD NOT NEED TO PAY THE BILL. I literally had 2 insurances at the time. Independence BCBS and Aetna and no one can figure out how to fix it. The people at the hospital that billed me obviously dont know what they are doing. I am going crazy now seeing this bill again. I don’t know what to do or who to contact. Should I threaten them with a lawyer? How can I get this resolved. Please help!!
Thanks! Christine
