Employee Health Insurance

I’’ on my employer’s health insurance (in Louisville Kentucky) and they are switching from Anthem to Humana effective 6/1. I’m single and on my own plan- 2500 deductible, out of pocket maximum is $5000 and coinsurance is 20%. They only offered one type of plan to choose. I’m also 27.

Ive had health issues this year so I’ve hit my deductible and have paid 5k out of pocket which was the max, so going forward I don’t have to pay anything (I’f I was on anthem)

I’m getting surgery 6/14. My out of pocket max for the new insurance my employer is going to is 8k. So now I’d have to pay 8k…. I read about asking the health insurance company for a credit transfer for the deductible but doubt it’s likely. I understand my employer has no obligation to help nor even offer insurance.

Am I just shit out of luck and this is bad timing? My employer just informed us on Friday 5/28 we’re changing providers and starts 6/1 so I’m scrambling to get everything sorted out
