Hello, this is my first time in this sub so apologies for any errors.
My Dad (63M) is moving to from California to Tennessee this summer and is having a hard time finding private insurance that’ll cover him since he had cancer a few years back (recovered and fully in remission, knock on wood). I was confused because I thought the ACA ensured people couldn’t get refused for pre-existing conditions, but the two brokers he spoke to told him that the only coverage he’d be able to get is under state/national health insurance, which they also told him was really shitty in Tennessee (apparently a lot of doctors won’t take it?).
Does anyone have any insight or advice? None of this sounds right but I’m not sure if I’m missing something. He’s thinking of getting that shared Christian insurance group thing, but even they apparently won’t help to cover him if his cancer comes back. Thanks in advance!
